Dengvaxia in the Philippines

Dengvaxia is the hottest discussion today that you can see, heard and read almost everywhere in the Philippines. It disturbed the Filipino people when the manufacturer of the said product claimed that they don't advise or even recommend to inject it to those who had never dengue in the past because it will possibly give them a severe disease.

Dengvaxia is a vaccine designed for dengue protection manufactured Sanofi Pasteur. It was distributed in the Philippines during the term of President Noynoy Aquino. They spent 3.5 Billion Pesos for the said vaccine. Although, there were already previous reports that some medical experts made a study on it, where they found out that the said vaccine is not advisable to inject to those who are not a dengue victim yet. Still the Aquino administration spent a billion pesos to buy it and they showed to the Filipino people publicly with the Former DOH Secretary Garin injected to some children in the country.

Former DOH Secretary Garin said she was willing to cooperate in the investigation and ready to face whatever consequences but admitted the use of Dengvaxia vaccine was in the guidance and recommendations of the World Health Organization.  However, the World Health Organization recently recently released a statement that there was no recommendation from them to use Dengvaxia.

We don't know the motives of the previous administration. It was a huge money they spent by this program. Although, it has a good intention perhaps but now the truth has come out. This is another controversy that the entire people has suffering.

There were reports that a boy died after injecting a Dengvaxia had a heart failure. Not so sure if it was really due to the vaccine. But the question is what if it's true? Let's just hope and pray for an immediate resolution for this issue that the Filipino is facing.
